It was the sixth day of June, 2006 -- 06-06-06. I am a waitress at a reinvented 1940's supper club. The hostess was seating guests when I saw a middle-aged couple approach the hostess stand. The gentleman asked if we were serving devil's food cake for desert. I, not thinking, replied, "I'm sorry sir, we don't have that on our menu, but I do suggest the chocolate cake." He handed me a Get Out of Hell Free card. I looked at the card, and realized the joke. I asked he if I could keep the card, he nodded. I said thank you, admiring my one of many novelty items I have acquired over the years.
