This bit of simple simony started almost as a lark. One of the readers of Randy Cassingham's weird news feature This is True® told Randy he was going to hell for one of the stories he wrote. He told this reader that True's consulting minister not only had no problem with the story, he liked it. Her response: the minister was going to hell too!

Randy figured that if a self-appointed moralist could condemn people to hell with the snap of her mind, he certainly had the power to get them out again. Thus the Get Out of Hell Free (or "GOOHF") card was born.
